You’ve been having a good old look around the site, you may have noticed my general Affiliate Disclosure that appears in the side bar of every page and post and which goes a little something like this:
“Half around the world contains affiliate links throughout the site. If you choose to purchase items or services through these links, we will earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions help reduce the costs of running this site. So thank you in advance for any clicks through!”
We are also part of the Amazon Affiliate program which requires the following specific disclosure:
“We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.”
So, what is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link allows us to earn a commission from a purchase that is referred to the company through Half around the world. This happens at no cost to you. The price is not bumped up to pay the commission – you get the best deal, and the payment to Half around the world is calculated on top of your purchase and charged to the company. This is how we make (a little bit of) money which goes to cover the costs of running this website.
So does this mean we promote anything and everything?
No, it does not. We only promote companies and services that we love and use ourself, even if these companies are not part of any affiliate program.
Again, there is no additional costs for you to buy or book something through an affiliate link, but you help us and other small businesses out a lot and we really really appreciate it when you do.
If you have questions about affiliate marketing, feel free to get in touch with us.
